STEP BACK IN TIME - Kylie Minogue

THIS IS MY JUDGED AND POSSIBLY ONLY ENTRY! OR HAVE I ENTERED ANYTHING ANONYMOUS? HMMMMMMMMMMMMM...

SONG / ARTIST INFORMATION

Title: STEP BACK IN TIME
Artist: Kylie Minogue
Album: Kylie - Greatest Hits 87-92
Year Released: 1991
BPM: 122-point something-and-a-third (ish)
Highest Chart Position: Dunno. Somewhere in the top ten (UK and AUSTRALIA)

"STEP BACK IN TIME" is taken from Kylie's third album, "Rhythm of Love".
This 1990 record spawned several other big hits, including "Better The Devil You Know", "What Do I have To Do" and "Shocked".
The song is an obvious homage to the music of the 60's and 70's, and is apparently one of Kylie's favourites to this day.
It was written by the pop legends Stock, Aitken and Waterman, and if you don't know who they are you haven't lived!
We all know she's had a hard time lately, but now she's back, and currently in the middle of a comeback tour.
A big group of us are going to see her in the new year, should be great fun. I just hope I don't get stalked by a gay cowboy, like i did when we went to see Madonna...!

THE STEPS (SINGLE)

BEGINNER STEPS: (2)
These are just typical beginner steps, but I have tried to make them follow key phrases and sounds from the song, as people prefer that when starting out.
I've rated them as a two because there are several jumps in there. As approved by my cousin!

BASIC STEPS: (4)
I've rated these a four, as they are a more or less constant series of 4th notes.
Nothing your average mum couldn't handle! Except maybe jackie Tyler.
There are also some foot slidey freezes, and a couple of 8th notes in there too.

DIFFICULT STEPS: (5)
These were the first steps I created, and have only been changed slightly since.
The other stepsets have been designed around these ones, so that it's fairly easy to move up a difficulty.
I wouldn't say they flow as well as I'd like them to, but I think they suit the song pretty well.

EXPERT STEPS: (7)
Originally this song was going to max out at a six, but certain parts of the song were calling out for harder sequences, so they have become a mid seven.
These more or less follow the melody, but some areas are timed to the vocals, as I think it's that sort of song.
At one point i had a slowdown for the first chorus, but i decided to remove it as it felt artificial.
Not 100% pleased with these, but the song is doing my head in now, so they will have to do.
What else can I say here.... hmm... synchopated!

SORRY, NO DOUBLES :(

THE GRAPHICS

The banner and bg are based on the music video.
These were created in Adobe Photoshop 7, a long time ago, and updated in Photoshop CS2.
Yes, i know they're somewhat basic!
There is also an ITG-style banner for those of you who want to continue the dream...

The Kylie Minogue logo isn't based on anything official, (shock horror!) but it is the same font used in the DS MegaMix version of "Love At First Sight".
I have already used this logo in other Kylie graphics, so i thought I'd continue to do so.

The stills and music video were ripped from the Ultimate Kylie DVD compilation, using Smartripper, DVD2AVI, and the VFAPI Codec.
The video was then edited in Adobe Premiere and scaled down to 320 x 256 pixels.

OTHER STUFF

The CDTitle points to the aforementioned Ultimate Kylie compilation album,
and I have included two versions of this graphic.

I did two musical edits of this song, one was synched by the_ditz, and the other by Hellrazor.
I cannot remember who did which one, but BIG BIG thanks go to both of you. :D

The version I have used is somewhat repetetive, but I prefer that than having a song drag on for too long.
Please try and enjoy the song for what it is, and not get annoyed by the natural fadeout at the end!
